Local Committee

This link provides information about who the Good Shepherd Trust Board are and what they do, as well as governance information.

Information about the Trust’s finances (including annual reports and accounts) can be found here.

The Trust Board has a Register of Interests, which can be found by following this link.

We have a single Local Committee appointed by the Good Shepherd Trust. It is responsible for both Ottershaw C of E Infant and Junior schools. Our aim is to promote high standards of educational achievement, whilst ensuring that our Christian ethos underpins a nurturing environment where each child is supported to achieve everything they are capable of.

The Trust Board delegates some governance functions to the Local Committee through a Scheme of Delegation.

We fulfil a strategic role, acting as a critical friend to the school and are collectively responsible for the continuing development of the schools.

We are not responsible for the day to day running of the school.

The local committee is responsible for:

·          Establishing the strategic direction

·          Ensuring accountability

·          Overseeing compliance, including monitoring the impact of some grants (such as the pupil premium)

·          Ensuring risks to the organisation are managed.

 The Local Committee includes members from different parts of the community:

Headteacher
Parent members: parents of children at the school appointed as representatives of the parents by election who are appointed for a 4-year term;
Staff members: one member of the school staff appointed as a representative of the staff, normally following an election;
Community members.
We are all volunteers and, as a team, find it a very rewarding experience to work together to ensure that we deliver the very best education for all children at our schools.

You will find a brief introduction to each member of the Local Committee on our Meet the Local Committee page. We would very much welcome your feedback or comments and would invite you to contact us in the first instance, via our email address Governors@ottershawcofeschools.surrey.sch.uk and we will ensure that the right person then deals with your message.

The Local Committee meets six times a year.
