Curriculum
What does learning look like at Ottershaw?
We follow the new National Curriculum (introduced in September 2014) across our schools.
English, Maths, Science, Religious Education (RE), Physical Education (PE), Computing and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) are taught as discrete subjects every week, whereas our History and Geography form our termly topics and drive our Arts teaching in a cross curricular way.
All our topics start with a ‘Knowledge Harvest’ to gather all the information children already know and questions they have to support our planning, and this is followed by an exciting ‘Entry Point’ to capture their imagination. We celebrate our learning at the end of each topic with an equally exciting ‘Exit Point’ which often involves an exhibition of work for parents and friends to see. Any parent wishing to learn more about their child's learning, please contact us to make an appointment with your child's teacher.
The entry point for each topic is what gets the children started!
